Blues Instructor Andi Hansen’s Biography

Andi Hansen started dancing in 2008 and from the night she was introduced to blues, was captivated by the music and the dance. This quickly turned into a passion and now she can be found around the country – DJing, teaching, and competing. What made her fall in love with the blues was the wide range of expression, the combination of autonomy and partnership, and the honesty and power within the genre and the movements. As a dancer, Andi is known for her comfortable connection, creative footwork, and playful partnering. She enjoys bringing these things into the classroom to help her students have their best dances and maximum fun out on the floor. Andi lives in Grand Rapids where she runs the local blues dance scene. Andi can often be found in Chicago, where she is on staff with Big City Blues and Bluetopia as both an instructor and DJ. Her recent achievements include;

● 1st place in the open J&J at Steel City Blues 2017
● 1st place in the social J&J at Snowbound Blues 2016
● 2nd place in the open J&J at Sweet Molasses Blues 2016.
